To transfer a horse to a new owner on horsereg, the current owner marks the horse as available for sale, then the buyer completes the ownership transfer, uploads proof of the transfer and pays the transfer fee.
- The current owner starts the transfer. The horse must be marked Available for Sale before the buyer can select it.
- The buyer completes the transfer. The buyer uploads a document confirming the transfer and pays a transfer fee.
- Your federation sets the fee and the proof it needs. Ask your federation if you’re not sure which document to upload.
- For Equestrian Sports New Zealand (ESNZ), the buyer starts from Transfer a Horse on the ESNZ membership page.
Transfer horse ownership on horsereg in two parts: the current owner marks the horse as available for sale, then the buyer completes the transfer.
-
Owner: open your horses
The current owner signs in at horsereg.com, opens My Pages and goes to their horses.
-
Owner: mark the horse for sale
Next to the horse being sold, turn on Available for Sale. The horse can now be selected by the buyer.
-
Buyer: start the transfer
The buyer signs in and starts the ownership transfer process from their federation’s horsereg page.
-
Buyer: select the horse
The buyer selects the horse that’s available for sale.
-
Buyer: upload proof
The buyer uploads the document that confirms the transfer, as their federation asks.
-
Buyer: pay the fee
The buyer pays the transfer fee in the cart to submit the transfer.
After the transfer
If your federation reviews transfers, the horse moves to the new owner once the transfer is approved. The new owner then manages the horse’s yearly activation and discipline starts. For how ESNZ renewals work, see Equestrian New Zealand: membership and horse renewal rules explained.
