How ESNZ renewal windows, start dates and horse discipline starts work, and why nothing is backdated.
- The renewal window opens 32 days before a membership or horse activation expires.
- There's no grace period. Renew after the expiry date and your new cover starts on the day you buy it.
- A discipline start can't be bought without a horse activation, and its dates always match the activation's.
How ESNZ renewal windows, start dates and horse discipline starts work, and why nothing is backdated. The same rules apply to person memberships and to horse activations on Uplifter.
When you can renew
You can renew from 32 days before your current membership or horse activation expires. Renew inside that window while the current one is still valid, and the new one starts the day the current one ends, so you keep continuous cover and lose no days.
When your new cover starts
- Renewed during the window — the new Valid From date is the current Valid To date.
- Renewed after expiry — the new Valid From date is the purchase date. ESNZ allows no 30-day window after expiry and no backdating on any person membership or horse registration.
How discipline starts follow the horse activation
A discipline start is a membership bought for a horse that lets it enter a discipline. Its dates always match the horse's activation:
- Before the renewal window — it carries the current activation's dates.
- During the renewal window — it carries the new activation's dates, so renew the activation first.
- After the activation expires — it carries the new activation's dates, once that activation is bought.
To see a horse's discipline starts, open View Horse Details and scroll to the bottom of the page.
Lifetime and changing membership type
Lifetime types. ESNZ offers four: Lifetime Member, Honorary Lifetime Member, Official Lifetime Member and Coach Lifetime Member.
Changing type mid-season. Moving to a different membership type is priced by ESNZ's upgrade and downgrade rules, which Uplifter sets up each season. Ask ESNZ what a change will cost before you buy.
ESNZ calls the yearly horse activation a "registration", but it isn't the same as adding a new horse. Renewing an activation doesn't create a new horse record.
