Manage horses registered on HorseReg

Register a horse online

To register a horse online you must be signed in to your HorseReg account. Once signed in, go to https://horsereg.com/#!/horses/add-horse/5. From that page you can:

• Register a new horse on your own HorseReg account by clicking Add a new horse at the bottom of the page.
• Register a new horse on behalf of another person by clicking Search users in the Admin transaction section, selecting the member's profile, then clicking Add a new horse.
• See the list of horses already registered under your account.

When you click Add a new horse, the horse profile creation page opens.

• Horse name: enter the horse's name. Several horses may share the same name in HorseReg.
• Is this horse registered with a breed registry? If yes, choose one of the registries pre-set by Cheval Québec. If no, continue.
• Associated people:
  1. Select the member profile to associate with the horse. If the member is one of the profiles on your account, pick them on the left ("Choose a person under your account who is associated with the horse"). Otherwise search for an existing HorseReg profile on the right ("Search other people associated with this horse"); if nothing matches, you can create a new profile.
  2. Select the role of each associated person. Owner is mandatory and can be shared; for shared ownership, set each person's percentage and the primary owner. Rider/driver is optional. Responsible person is optional; if none is set, the primary owner becomes the responsible person by default.

The next page collects more details. Mandatory: breed (from the Cheval Québec list), sex, date of birth. Optional: Equestrian Canada number, breeder name, registration number, Coggins test certificate, registration certificate, vaccination certificate, photo.

Click Add to cart to complete the registration. A notification goes to the person registering the horse and to Cheval Québec, who verifies the information and approves the horse.

Register a horse from the admin dashboard

Open the Horses menu and click Register a horse: https://horsereg.com/management/tools/#!/dashboard/horses/list. Then:

1. Select the national registrar.
2. Enter the horse's name.
3. Select the horse's status. To appear in the horse directory, the status must be Active.
4. Leave This horse has no existing UELN number checked.
5. Select the breed registry, or "Horses without registration" if there is none.
6. Select the breed, or "Without registration". The breed determines the breed code in the horse's HorseReg number and registration number.
7. Select the sex and add the date of birth, plus retirement and death dates if applicable.
8. Add any documents associated with the horse.
9. Click Validate changes to create the profile.
10. Open the new profile, go to the Activation tab and click Add an activation: type Cheval Québec, valid from today, valid until 2100-01-01.
11. Approve the horse profile. Once approved, it appears in the horse directory.

Horse directory

All horses with an active status on HorseReg are listed in the directory: https://horsereg.com/#!/horselookup/chevaux-quebec. Search by name or registration number.

Transfer of ownership
