Overview
In this article we will be looking at tagging various elements within the Uplifter system and how this affects the application of these elements. Learning how to tag correctly will ensure that your policies, subscriptions, and otherwise, are applying and displaying correctly.
What Is a Tag?
A tags is a quick and intuitive way of apply filters to various items and elements within Uplifter. Tags can often be any item within your system, say a program, a category, a season, or even a location/facility. Depending on where you are applying your tag you may find the system restricts the types of tags you can apply.
Where to Add Tags
Within the Uplifter system tags can be added in several places. As a general rule, you can add tags to anything that has a Link To section.

How to Apply Tags

Tags are applied to various elements within Uplifter by simply beginning to type. By adding letters or numbers to the Link To field the system will suggest options for you to select from. To add the desired tag, select the option from the suggestions.
If you do not see your tag in the list of suggestions, you will want to continue typing the name of the desired item. The more you add, the more refined the suggestions become.
Drop In Tags
If your organization has Drop Ins enabled for a particular program or series of programs you may wish to be more specific with your tags. When tagging subscriptions, policies, etc. you can tag the over-arching entity, then hover over the tag to select All, Full Program, or Drop In registrations.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions offer the ability to add tags under the "This is a Subscription" header, in the "Register Checkout Filters" section. The tags you apply to a subscription will filter how/when that subscription is applied to invoices (or offered, if non-mandatory).

With subscriptions, you can tag: Locations/Facilities, Seasons, Categories, Category Levels, Programs.
For the majority of filters that you can apply to subscriptions, you can theoretically add the word "and" in between each one. For instance, adding the tags [Season 1] and [Category 1] to a subscription essentially creates the sentence: "To suggest/attach this subscription, a purchased program must be in [Season 1] AND [Category 1]."
However, those items that function on an equivalent scale can theoretically have the word "or" added in between each one. For instance, two seasons you tag, or to opposing categories would create sentences like: "A purchased program must be in [Season 1] OR [Season 2] to qualify." or "To suggest/attach this subscription, a purchased program must be in [Category 1] OR [Category 2]."
You can then combine equivalent and non-equivalent tags to create the exact filters you wish. For instance, tagging [Season 1], [Season 2], [Category 1], and [Category 2] would result in: "To suggest/attach this subscription, a purchased program must be in either [Season 1] OR [Season 2] AND either [Category 1] OR [Category 2]."
Finally, programs act above all other filters/tags, so by adding a program tag you can theoretically add "or" in between the program and any other tag(s). By adding tags [Season 1], [Season 2], [Category 1], [Category 2], and [Program 1] you would essentially craft the following sentence: "To suggest/attach this subscription, a purchased program must be in either [Season 1] OR [Season 2] AND either [Category 1] OR [Category 2] OR simply be [Program 1]."
Policies
Policies offer the ability to add tags under the Link To section during policy creation/edit. The tags you apply to a policy will dictate when the policy is displayed during checkout. For all tags that you can apply to a policy you can theoretically add the word "or" in between all tags. "To display this policy, a purchased program must be in [Season 1] OR [Season 2] OR [Category 1] OR [Category 2] OR [Program 1]."
With policies, you can tag: Locations/Facilities, Seasons, Categories, Category Levels, Programs, Products, Tickets, Subscriptions.
