Overview
Uplifter offers clubs the ability to create customized fields in many locations throughout their site. These are known as Custom Fields and can be found by navigating to Settings > Global Settings > Custom Fields tab on your Uplifter site. Custom Fields can be generated within five main categories, depending on the requirements. For more information about the rest of the Global Settings page, please see our article STEP TWO: Edit Settings.
Custom Field Categories
The first step to creating a custom field is to select a category for your needs. Each category will offer different options for context of functionality and locations to display. Depending on your needs, you may select one of the five options: participant, member, instructor, invoice, or invoice item.
Participant Fields
Participant fields are generated to acquire details pertaining to participants that go beyond the elements Uplifter requests intrinsically. You might use participant fields to ask about allergies, previous experience, or for certificate image uploads. Participant fields can be toggled in five ways.
Field Name: The name of the field you are generating. This should be as succinct as possible.
Help Text: A short sentence that displays when a member hovers over the field. This can be used to help clarify the type of information you are looking for with the field.
On Participant Creation: By enabling On Participant Creation the field you are generating will display on the participant creation form alongside other elements like participant name, birthdate, etc.
Member Edit and View: By enabling Member Edit and View the field you are generating will display on any participant profiles with the option for members to update the information in the field.
Member View Only: By enabling Member View the field you are generating will display on any participant profiles without the option for members to update the information in the field.
Member Checkout and Admin Edit / View on Invoice: By enabling Member Checkout and Admin Edit / View on Invoice the field you are generating will be verified at the time of checkout/registration with the option for members to update the information in the field.
Class Lists and Reports: By enabling Class Lists and Reports the field you are generating will display on class lists/attendance lists and reports that include participant information.
On Participant Listing: By enabling On Participant Listing the field you are generating will display on participant manager (People & Accounts > Participants). These pages can be found when viewing a member's account or when reviewing program registrant groups via the program view option.
Participant Identifier Field on Import: Enabling the Participant Identifier Field on Import option will set the field to be an identifying field during import. This means that when members import their data the system will consider your custom field when attempting to match new and existing participants.
Link To: The link to field allows admins to tag elements of their site where these fields may apply, like programs or category levels. Link To is only available for Invoice Fields and Invoice Item Fields intrinsically, but can be enabled for other field types by selecting "Member Edit and View on Invoice". For more information on tagging, please see our article Tagging.
Member Fields
Member fields are generated to acquire details pertaining to members that go beyond the elements Uplifter requests intrinsically. You might use member fields to ask about pick-up schedules, basic volunteer availability, family doctor information. Member fields can be toggled in three ways.
