Build one figure skating competition, clone it for the other events in your series, then create the series in Events → Series so skaters register for every event in one transaction from one link.
- A series lets skaters register for several competitions in one transaction, from the series’ master registration link.
- Build one competition first, then clone it. Each competition keeps its own Event Dashboard, with its own categories, prices, forms and stores.
- Uplifter sets a few skating settings for you: the CSS report, the home club selector, section survey forms, the attending coach question and music file names. Ask for them before you clone.
- Synchro teams need two group settings turned on: Team Foreign ID and Ability to reuse Team Name.
- Screenshots may show an earlier version of the screens. The steps describe the current screens.
To set up your series events, build and check one competition, clone it for each other competition in the series, then create the series in Events → Series and attach every Event Dashboard to it.
-
Create the first competition
In the Admin Dashboard, select Events → Events, then Create event. Under Reuse an existing financial organization, choose the option for events and competitions. Enter the listing details and a Classification, which filters the event directory. Set the registration dates and fees, add at least one registration category, then select Continue to Dashboard.
-
Check its configuration
On the Event Dashboard, open Configuration and work through each page. Use the checklist below.
-
Ask Uplifter for the skating settings
Contact Uplifter Support with the list under "Settings Uplifter sets for you". Do this before you clone, so every copy inherits them.
-
Clone it for each other competition
On the first competition’s Dashboard tab, select Clone event, then set each copy’s name and dates. Clone an individual event for individual events and a synchro event for synchro events, because their music file names differ.
-
Create the series
In the left menu, select Events → Series and create the series with its name and registration dates. The series gives you the master registration link for all its competitions.
-
Attach each competition
Open each Event Dashboard and select Configuration → Configuration Overview. Under Associated Series, turn on My event is part of a series, choose the series and select Save.
-
Share the series link
Open the series from Events → Series, check that every competition is listed, then share its registration link with skaters and clubs.
Configuration checklist
- Name and dates: check the event name and web address, the registration open and close dates (they apply to every category) and the competition start and end dates.
- Registration page and emails: update the registration page description, the team creation and join-team messages, the confirmation email (header, reply-to address, subject and body) and the message skaters see after paying. Check the event contact details.
- Registration Categories: check the event’s maximum capacity, if any, the age calculation date, and whether skaters can enter more than one category. For each individual event, set Is used for to individual registration and check the name, the price per skater, the age and gender limits and the description.
- Information to Collect: check the main information collected and add your own forms, such as music uploads and music durations.
- Agreements to Sign: add any documents the skater or team must sign.
- Stores: add the live streaming fee, if you charge one. See "Add a live streaming fee" below.
Pair, dance and synchro events
- Use group categories. Set Is used for to team registration, then check the registration method, the minimum and maximum group size and the price per team.
- Synchro teams: turn on Team Foreign ID and Ability to reuse Team Name in the group settings.
- Team managers can finish later. After paying, a team manager can return to edit the team’s answers and replace music files.
Settings Uplifter sets for you
- CSS report details, so the report your technical team needs comes out right.
- The home club selector: say whether the skater’s club is collected per skate, per team, or both.
- Survey forms for your section’s member information and the registrant information.
- The attending coach question, which searches for the coach.
- Music file names, so music downloads come out organized.
Music file names
When you download music with Configuration → Information to Collect → Bulk Download Registrants Files, Uplifter emails you a link to a ZIP archive, sorted like this:
- A folder per event, named after the event, with a subfolder per category and music question.
- Each file is named after the skater (or the partners’ names, joined with "&"), then the club, then the category ID and the music question. Synchro files use the team name instead of the skaters’ names.
- The category ID is the custom category ID in each registration category’s main setup. The music question is the question’s description in Information to Collect.
- A music question you add from the dashboard has no naming pattern, so its files download unnamed. Ask Uplifter to add the pattern.
Add a live streaming fee
-
Charge team entries per skater
In the group categories’ overall setup, choose a registration method that charges each participant, so the fee applies to every skater on a team.
-
Add the store
Select Configuration → Stores → Add Store. Name it, for example "Live Streaming Development Fee" with the event name. Under Store Display, add only individual registration categories, including those linked to team categories. Set Store Type to In Process, select Single Purchase and Mandatory Product (forced purchase), set Display Order to 1 and Store Status to active.
-
Add the fee item
Add a store item with the event name in its Store Item Name. Set Who is paying the processing fee? to Organizer and choose the sales tax that applies.
-
Add the price
Select Add Purchase Option, name it with the amount and tax (for example "$10.00 + HST"), enter the Price before Tax and set Per Registration Limit to 1.
-
Limit it to once per skater
Select Activate Advanced Configuration and set the per-identity limit to 1. Each skater pays the fee once, however many categories they enter. Save.
