A custom profile attribute is a value on a member's profile, such as Member in good standing, that your association updates and that decides whether a membership can be issued, approved or bought. Change it on the member's Membership Details.
- A custom profile attribute is a value stored on the member’s profile. Your association can update it, and Uplifter can tie it to your memberships so it decides whether a membership is issued, needs approval or can be bought. Member in good standing (Yes or No) is the most common example.
- Uplifter sets up the attribute and its rule. It becomes a requirement on every membership it applies to, including dependent memberships from other organizations where they apply. To add one, contact Uplifter Support.
- It follows the member, not one membership. Because the value lives on the profile, every membership that uses it reacts when you change it.
- Only your organization can change it. The member sees the requirement and is asked to contact you.
Use a custom profile attribute, such as Member in good standing, to drive membership logic: change one value on a member’s profile, and their memberships follow the rule Uplifter set up for it.
-
Open the membership
On the Admin Dashboard, select Memberships → Individual Memberships, search for the member and open their Membership Details.
-
Find the attribute
In the membership’s requirements, find the attribute, for example Member in good standing.
-
Change the value
Set the new value, for example No to stop future purchases or Yes when the issue is resolved, then save.
Example: Member in good standing
Everyone starts in good standing: new and current members get Yes by default, so nothing changes until you set someone to No. When you set No:
- The requirement shows as Member NOT in Good Standing (Prevent future purchase).
- The member’s current memberships go back to Pending Requirements, so none of them shows as fully issued.
- The member can’t buy a new membership from your organization.
- A member who held an issued membership receives an email that one or more requirements on their membership are no longer valid, with a link to their membership details.
What the member sees
In My Pages, under Memberships, Licences & Certifications, the member sees the requirement as not met. Its how-to-resolve window tells them to contact your organization. Uplifter can add your organization’s own note to that message; contact Uplifter Support.
