Use work email, unique passwords and prompt access removal to protect your organization's Uplifter accounts.
- Uplifter's help centre requires two-step verification on every account.
- An admin who leaves keeps their access until it's removed. Leaving your organization doesn't switch it off.
- Uplifter staff will never ask for your password, by email, chat or phone.
Use work email, unique passwords and prompt access removal to protect your organization's Uplifter accounts. These habits apply to every admin login on Uplifter and to your help centre account.
Using work email for work accounts
Create every Uplifter admin account and help centre account with an email address that belongs to your association or club. Keep personal email for your own membership and your family's registrations.
- Separate records. Your personal registrations and payments stay apart from your admin work.
- Easy handovers. The mailbox stays with your organization when someone leaves, so password resets and support replies still arrive.
- Role addresses. Shared addresses such as registrar@yourclub.ca make good contacts for Uplifter to hold on file.
No email domain yet? Set up a dedicated mailbox owned by your board, not by one person.
Protecting every login
- Give every login its own password of at least 12 characters, or a passphrase of four or more random words. Never reuse one from another site.
- Store passwords in a reputable password manager. Team plans let you share a login safely and remove a person's access in one place.
- Turn on two-step verification for your organization's email too. Whoever controls your inbox can reset every other password.
- Give each person their own admin login. A shared login hides who changed what, and can't be removed from one person alone.
Spotting phishing emails
Be wary of any email that's urgent, asks you to sign in or confirm a password, or asks to change the banking details for a payout. Check the sender's address, and hover over a link to see where it really goes before you select it.
Sign in to Uplifter from your own bookmark, never from a link in an email. Confirm any banking change by phone, on a number you already have. If you entered a password on a suspicious page, change it at once and contact Uplifter Support.
When someone leaves
The same day a staff member, volunteer or board member leaves, submit a request to Uplifter Support and we'll deactivate their user account for your organization. Include their name, the email on their account, their last day and who's taking over.
On the Enterprise Portal, you can also update permissions for all your organizations yourself from Financials → Accounting. Then change the passwords of any shared mailboxes or logins the person knew.
Review your list of admins after every AGM or board change, and keep at least two, so one departure never locks you out.
