A closed API that lets the partners you approve check who holds a current membership with your association.
- The Member API is closed: Uplifter sets up access for each partner you name, and each partner sees only the membership groups and fields you agree.
- Only an issued membership counts. A pending or unpaid membership reads as not a member.
- The partner asks; nothing is pushed to it when a member changes.
- Available when Membership Manager is active on your organization's account — ask your Uplifter account manager to add the Member API for a partner.
A closed API that lets the partners you approve check who holds a current membership with your association. It runs on the Enterprise Portal and comes with Membership Manager, so an event platform, officials system or benefits partner can check membership without a second login or a spreadsheet.
What a partner can ask
Each partner is given one or more of three kinds of request:
- Check one person — a yes or no answer to whether someone holds a current membership.
- List your members — the agreed fields for your members, such as name, member number and the memberships they hold with their valid-to dates.
- See what changed — the members whose eligibility has changed since a date the partner gives.
You choose how a partner finds a person: by member number, by first and last name, by name and date of birth, or by member number and date of birth.
Who sets it up
Uplifter creates each partner's access and hands the partner its documentation, which is shared under NDA. There are no self-serve keys, and a partner can't make a kind of request it wasn't given. You decide which partners get access, which membership groups each one sees and which lookup key it uses. The partner builds and maintains its own side against the documentation.
What happens when things change
A change to one member updates only that member's record. A change to the API setup itself, such as adding a group or a field, rebuilds every record, so allow some time before the results are current. The same applies the first time an API is set up.
The API is tied to each season's membership groups. At every season rollover Uplifter re-points it to the new groups, so tell your account manager before you open a new season. Otherwise the partner can start reading current members as non-members.
If a partner reports that someone isn't a member, check that person's membership status first. Most of these come down to a membership that hasn't been issued yet.
