How FederationConnector matches a Club 1.0 participant to association records at checkout, and what counts as current.
- It works only where the club and the association are both Uplifter clients. The check reads the association’s Enterprise Portal records.
- The match is exact on first name, last name and date of birth. No membership number is entered and nothing is uploaded.
- A spot in a program isn’t held until the participant reaches the final cart.
FederationConnector links a club’s Uplifter Club 1.0 site to its association’s Enterprise Portal, so a program can require a current association membership at checkout. Associations usually require it for insurance, eligibility and reporting.
What happens at checkout
The participant’s profile is chosen in a pop-up, and FederationConnector looks for them on the association’s records. If it finds a current membership of a type the program requires, registration continues to the cart and most members never notice. If not, a message explains what’s needed and, where the fix is to buy or renew, links to the association’s membership page.
What counts as current
- Any one required membership. When a program requires two or three, a current membership under any single one passes.
- An accepted status. The association chooses which statuses pass, Issued only or Issued and Processing, and Uplifter sets the check up that way when it first configures the connection. Pending Requirements, cancelled, suspended and refunded memberships never pass.
- Valid dates that cover today. An Issued membership past its valid-to date counts as expired.
- Live records. Nothing is copied or synchronized, so an association’s correction works on the next try.
Two accounts, two payments
The program fee is paid on the club’s site and the membership fee on the association’s portal, so members hold an account on both and there’s nothing to reconcile. A membership bought during a blocked registration is an ordinary membership: it shows on the association’s dashboard and reports, with the affiliated club.
How associations see affiliated members
A member who chooses a club as their affiliated club appears on that club’s dashboard in the association’s Enterprise Portal, under Clubs. A Club 1.0 club is reviewed exactly like an Enterprise Portal club. Club administrators can ask their association for read-only access to that dashboard; it isn’t turned on from Club 1.0.
Clubs only choose which memberships each program requires. Everything else is the association’s or Uplifter’s, as set out in FederationConnector roles: association, club and Uplifter.
