Build the questions people answer when they register, from question types to follow-up questions, and update your forms later.
- Pick the form's language first: English only, French only or bilingual. A bilingual form needs every field in both languages, and questions can't change the language.
- Only a Dropdown or Checkbox question can trigger a follow-up question.
- A Dropdown or Checkbox question needs at least one option.
- Registrants can change their answers after submitting, until the lockdown date you set. After that date, answers can't be changed. People who registered before you add a required question won't have answered it.
A registration form is the set of questions people answer when they register. You group questions into forms, show each form to every registration category or only some, and give each question a type. Forms live under Configuration → Information to Collect on the Event Dashboard.
-
Open Information to Collect
Open Events → Events, then select the gear icon or status button on the event's row. Select Configuration, then Information to Collect.
-
Create the form
Select Create new form. Choose the Language, enter a Form Name to title this group of questions, and set the Display Options: every registration category, or only the ones you pick. Select Create Form.
-
Add the questions
For each question, enter the Name (the question itself), set whether it's required, set the Display Order and choose the Question Type:
- Short Answer: one line of text, for names, numbers and anything brief.
- Long Answer: a larger box for medical notes, accessibility needs or other open answers.
- Dropdown: one choice from a fixed list. It keeps your data clean and easy to report on.
- Checkbox: several choices from a list, such as dietary needs or sessions attended.
- File Upload: a document from the registrant, such as a certificate or proof of eligibility.
- Date: a date picker, so the answer stays usable in reports.
For a Dropdown or Checkbox question, create at least one option.
-
Add a follow-up question
Create the parent question and the follow-up question first. Then add the follow-up to one of the parent's options, so it appears only when someone picks that answer. For example, ask "Do you have a dietary requirement?" and show the detail question only to people who answer Yes.
-
Update a form later
Your forms are listed on the Information to Collect page. Select Edit Form Display to change a form's name, languages, display order and categories, or Edit Form Content to change its questions, options and how they display.
Ask only what you'll use: every extra question makes the form longer to finish. Before you clone last season's event, remove the questions nobody needed.
